CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – A fire broke out at an East Ridge residence around 4:18 a.m. Saturday on Altamira Drive. When firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke and fire emitting from the residence.

Police said initial reports were that the structure may be occupied, so firefighters established an interior attack of the fire. After a search of the residence, it was determined the resident had made it out safely.

East Ridge Fire/Arson investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Damage has been estimated at $60,000.
